Qld: Fuel tanker falls into river
A recovery team is on its way to Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland to salvage
a fuel tanker which has fallen into a river.
Police say the tanker was being carried by ferry across the Jardine River, near Bamaga,
late yesterday when it slipped into two metres of water.
The driver escaped without injury.
Some fuel has leaked into the river, which runs into Endeavour Strait through the Jardine
River National Park.
