Fed: Drugs body wants more tax on alcohol

CANBERRA, Jan 16 AAP - The federal government's drugs advisory board today upped its
calls for the alcohol industry to pay more taxes to combat the social cost of drinking.
Australian National Council on Drugs (ANCD) executive officer Gino Vumbaca said it
was time the alcohol industry followed the lead of the gambling industry and put money
directly into community assistance programs.
ANCD's proposal would involve an alcohol community benefit fund paid for by existing
