NSW: Fighting spirit: Anzacs remembered

Vietnam veteran Major General WARREN GLENNY .. who attended a lunchtime commemoration
in Sydney's Hyde Park today .. says he thinks Anzac Day will be with us for a long time.

During the ceremony NSW Premier KRISTINA KENEALLY told how war brought her grandfather
.. an American serviceman .. to Brisbane where he met her grandmother.

Earlier today thousands of people braved Sydney's wet conditions to pay their respects
to past and present members of Australia's defence forces at a dawn service at Martin
Place.

The skies cleared briefly for the annual Anzac Day march in Sydney where tens of thousands
of flag-waving spectators cheered as up to 18 thousand NSW veterans and serving forces
marched through the city.
