Automates the Tedious Process of Manually Creating
Web Browse Trees
Blue Angel Technologies Inc. announced Tuesday the availability of a software tool which automates the process of creating HTML browse trees on the Web.
A browse tree is a web of hypertext links that assists a user in finding information by leading them from a higher level concept page through increasingly finer levels of information.
For example, a browse tree displaying an organization's structure might start with the headquarters location at the top of the tree and have increasingly smaller locations, divisions, departments, groups and units moving down the branches until one reaches a desired organizational unit or individual.
Typically, the creation of a browse tree is a labor intensive manual effort that requires a webmaster or programmer to create individual Web pages containing hypertext links referencing each other and then sewing them all together in a cohesive way. Maintaining browse trees tends to be costly because the tree's Web pages must be continually updated, linked together and tested as information changes.
The MetaStar Browse Tree tool was developed to provide users with a more cost effective way for managing information on the Web", said Jim Restivo, Blue Angel's president.
